Alterations and Improvements
You can make alterations or improvements to your home as long as you get our written permission before you start. We will not refuse permission without a good reason, which we will explain to you. We will not give permission for example if the work was likely to cause damage to the property or cause a nuisance to your neighbours.
In some cases you may also require a Building Warrant or Planning Permission and if you do, the Association will grant permission to carry the work on the condition that your plans have been approved by the Council's Planning Department.
If you have made alterations or improvements, with our permission, you might have the right to compensation at the end of your tenancy. Your Housing Officer will let you know whether the work you propose to do is a "qualifying improvement".
For more information please refer to your Tenant's Handbook or contact the Housing management staff at the office.
